Silver plans accounted for the majority of ACA enrollment in 2020

As in all years since the 2013 launch of Healthcare.gov, the benchmark silver plans had the highest enrollment in 2021 among the three leading metal plans offered on Affordable Care Act marketplaces. In total, silver plans accounted for 6,560,684, or 56% of enrollees1. Bronze plans followed at 4,251,088 or 36% of enrollees, then gold plans at 990,819 or 8% of enrollees.
